Sony,Japanese electronics giant for playstation3 game console assured millions of users that a system bug halting play on older versions of the PlayStation3 game console had been fixed.

Sony spokesperson Patrick Seybold said on the PlayStation blog, " The Company verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally".

Sony earlier indicated that the problem, which has left many PlayStation3 game console owners unable to connect to the internet for more than a day and some unable to even play games, was only affecting models released before last year's PlayStation3 game console Slim.

"We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PlayStation3 game console units other than the slim model recognised the year 2010 as a leap year," said Seybold.
